Where Spirit and Business Intersect
“You can be so heavenly minded that you're no worldly good.” — My dad
When I was a teenager, immersed in fundamentalist Christianity, my dad said something that stuck with me for years, even as I left the church and began my own spiritual path.
“You can be so heavenly minded that you're no worldly good.”
At the time, I didn’t fully understand what he meant. I thought the goal of life was to separate from the world—to be as pure, as spiritual, and as detached as possible. But what he was really pointing to was imbalance.
Now, with the hindsight of years in both deep spiritual introspection and practical business growth, I see this truth more clearly than ever:
When we lose touch with the world around us, we also lose our ability to relate, to connect, and to serve.
We live in a world of duality. The physical and the spiritual. The strategy and the surrender. The profit and the purpose. And it’s the integration of these seemingly opposing forces that makes a soul-led business not just successful, but magnetic.
Understanding the Contrast
Contrast is not something to be avoided. It’s what teaches us who we are. It tells us what we want to be more of. It’s what shapes our values, clarifies our desires, and pulls wisdom to the surface.
In the spiritual community, there’s often a focus on transcending pain, bypassing negativity, or “high-vibing” our way out of real problems. But the 3D world—this tangible, gritty reality—is not a mistake. It’s the exact classroom we signed up for.
You may have heard people talk about the 4D or 5D. These are energetic frameworks that represent expanded levels of consciousness, unity, unconditional love, and divine flow. When we access these states—through meditation, energy work, sacred ceremony, or spontaneous intuitive knowing—it can feel like coming home.
But here’s the truth that many spiritual seekers forget:
The point isn’t to escape the 3D. The point is to bring the 5D into the 3D.
That’s how we evolve, not by transcending the world, but by transforming it. If you want to know more about what it 5D consciousness is, you can read more about it here.
How Do You Access Higher Consciousness?
For those who are just beginning their journey of introspection or seeking to deepen their connection to the source of all that is, here are a few practices that open the door:
1. Meditation
Not the “empty your mind and think of nothing” kind (unless that works for you), but intentional stillness.
Meditation is the space where the noise of the world quiets just enough for your inner wisdom to speak. It’s where you can tune in to your higher self, your guides, your soul team, to God if that’s your preferred title to the Source of all that is, or simply to your breath.
I committed to meditating for 5 minutes per day. At first, I used apps like Unplug, a secular meditation app, or Headspace, a meditation app specifically created for new meditators. To be clear, there’s no right or wrong way. I know those who meditate sitting up, lying down, walking, eyes open, eyes closed, and all of these are perfect ways to meditate.
Before you get started meditating each day, ask a question or set an intention. You don’t need to find “answers” in that moment—the act of listening alone opens the channel. There is no work involved. The only work is in seeking a still mind.
2. Journaling as a Channel
Stream-of-consciousness writing can give voice to your soul. Write what you're feeling, then ask, "What is my highest self trying to teach me right now?" Let the words flow. Often, wisdom rises from within you that you had no idea you even knew. That comes from the part of us that is always connected to the Source of all that is. Channeling other forms is also quite possible if that’s something you want to explore.
3. Nature Connection
Nature is a direct line to Source. Spend time outside without distraction. Feel your feet on the earth. Let your nervous system regulate itself in the presence of trees, water, and sky. Your body knows what balance feels like—let it remember. Oftentimes, I do an energy practice in which I imagine a stream of light coming in from the universe through my 3rd eye (or pineal gland), flowing from that point, through my body, down my feet, and following that energy down to the core of the heart of the earth - its core. For me, this works particularly well when I’m feeling anxious. This particular practice does a nice job of grounding you in this present moment, which is the only moment that exists.
4. Intentional Stillness or Ritual
Rituals are just traditions handed down across generations that allow us to feel connected to the Source, and to all creation. There are thousands of rituals that could help you. For me, I make my own Florida Water to help keep the energy in my home clear. I love purchasing ethically sourced Palo Santo to burn as well. One of my favorite rituals is first thing in the morning, I hold a candle and send all the love, hope, and peace I can into that candle. Fire (once the candle is lit) is known to release that intention into the Universe.
Why Balance Matters in Business
It’s easy to get swept up in strategy, systems, and to-do lists in the world of business. And it’s equally easy—especially for spiritual entrepreneurs—to get caught floating in vision, dreams, and downloads without ever grounding them into form.
Neither extreme creates sustainable success.
If you’re always chasing results, hustling for more, and ignoring your soul’s whispers, you’ll burn out fast. If you’re always in a meditative state, vision boarding, and waiting for the Universe to “drop it in,” you’ll likely feel frustrated and stagnant.
The real magic happens where spirit and business intersect.
When you integrate 5D wisdom into your 3D business, here’s what becomes possible:
1. Intuition-Driven Decision Making
You stop outsourcing your power. You trust your inner guidance and let your soul—not just metrics—lead the way. You make aligned choices faster and with more peace.
2. Energetic Alignment with Ideal Clients
When you operate from a higher frequency of authenticity and clarity, you become magnetic to the clients you’re meant to serve. They don’t just want your product—they want your presence.
3. Innovation from Expanded Vision
The more time you spend connected to higher consciousness, the more original and creative your ideas become. You begin to see new paths, offerings, and collaborations no one else can.
4. Growth With Ease
You stop forcing and start flowing. That doesn’t mean you don’t work—it means you work in rhythm with your energy, your intuition, and your mission. Results come not from force, but from frequency. We start being that future version of ourselves by making the changes we need to make to be that version of ourselves.
Integration is the Work
This all comes full circle to what my dad said. Not because he practiced or spoke about anything relating to 5D or higher states of consciousness, but because he understood the necessity of balance.
This isn’t about religion. It’s not even about spirituality as an identity.
It’s about showing up as a whole human—spirit and flesh, intuition and intellect, cosmic and grounded.
Be soulful. But stay human.
Access the divine. But integrate it on Earth.
Float when needed. But land the plane.
Let your business be a sacred container for your highest wisdom. Let your strategies be informed by your soul. Let your success be a reflection of both who you are and who you're becoming.
Because evolution doesn’t happen out there. It happens right here—in the meeting room, the email list, the client conversation.
Heavenly-minded, but also world-changingly good.
